Happy Birthday Dad!

Yesterday was my dad's 60th Birthday! We celebrated with a little home cooked surf and turf on the grill and some sweet treats. As a gift, my siblings and I are taking dad out to a night on the town (family style) with a nice dinner and night at Comerica. Here is the "ticket" I designed for dad's card:

Summer fun Part II!

It's been a busy summer shooting around Ann Arbor. This past week was the annual Ann Arbor Art Fairs, 30 blocks of art and people and weather to boot! Here are some images from the last few weeks shooting for

Grandma and her girls.

Featured: Jersey Shore

My recent blog post about the Jersey Shore was picked up by the NY Daily News and featured in their travel section online. Pretty cool stuff!

The Jersey Shore

Well, not that Jersey Shore, well, maybe a little of that Jersey Shore.

I took a four-day vacation and flew into Atlantic City to meet up with family staying at a house on the shore in Sea Isle City, New Jersey. I know it seems strange to vacation in New Jersey, especially seeing as none of us had ever visited, but my mom placed a bid on a weeks stay during a charity auction, and bam, we were going to Jersey. We had a great, and HUMID time enjoying the beach, the food and a little Jersey (or is it Philly?) "wurta ice," or water ice.

Sunset over Sea Isle and the nightclub across the street from the nice house we stayed at.

I started this post with a sunset, so I guess I'll end it with one too. Sunset through the windows of the Atlantic City airport overlooking the runway, as we wait out a delay.

After the storm

A wicked storm moved through lower Michigan early this evening, not even the top speed on the windshield wipers was enough for proper visibility. It's amazing how the weather can change so quickly and leave such beauty in it's aftermath.

Long live summer fun

Ask me about summer heat and I'll tell you how much I love winter. But there's certainly more to summer than the heat! Here is a selection of my favorite images from summer assignments so far for

I think this is my favorite image of the summer so far. This kid hit the pavement with a serious mission; retrieve candy. When I asked him why he was sprawled out on the ground he replied, "I NEED candy!"

A new look

I have launched a new "splash" page for my website using several images I have featured here on the blog. It's fun to switch things up every once and awhile.

Along with the new look of that site, I've also been working on my archives. It's been some serious captioning work, but it'll be worth it in the end!

Feeling creative? Hit the kitchen

I am often struck with involved visions of creativity. These flashes tend come in the form of massive projects that I am woefully unprepared for and must attempt to satisfy immediately, such as sewing new curtains for every window in the house in a weekend or knitting everyone's Christmas gifts the night before the big day. I am sure you can guess how these "visions" turn out. Over the years I've started to learn how to harness my creativity, often satisfying the need to create, by simpler, less involved means. One of the most convenient ways is cooking, well, minus the mess and dishes. There is nothing convenient about dishes.

Here is a farmer's market hash I made for breakfast earlier this week.

And while I know I didn't exactly cook these, I couldn't help but take their picture. Fantastic made in Michigan summer treat!
